HSRT Opens with British Comedy Bedroom Farce
HOLLAND - Hope Summer Repertory Theatre (HSRT) opens the British comedy, "Bedroom Farce" on the DeWitt Mainstage at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 24.
"Bedroom Farce," which runs in rotation from June 24 to July 28, takes a keen eye to the marriages of four couples who are all at different points in their relationships.
Written by Alan Ayckbourn, often called "the British Neil Simon," the show tells the comings and goings in three bedrooms as one self-absorbed couple attempts to save their marriage as they wreak havoc on everyone else. While Ernest and Delia are preparing to celebrate their wedding anniversary, their son Trevor is struggling to keep his marriage alive. In one night the bickering couple manages to interrupt a wedding anniversary, spoil a house-warming party, and add misery to Nick and Jan's evening, which was not going well to begin with. The action flows quickly between three bedrooms, resulting in one funny look at modern relationships.
Equity Guest Artists Chip Duford, Kathleen Mulligan, David Studwell, and Christine Nelson head up a talented cast of eight actors.
OBIE-award winning director Thomas Bullard returns to HSRT for his 14th season to direct the show.
After the June 24 opening, "Bedroom Farce" will show at 8 p.m. on June 25, 28, 30, July 6, 8, 12, 16, 20, and 28.
While at the ticket office, be sure to reserve tickets for the other great HSRT mainstage shows, including family musical, "Seussical," the musical "Spitfire Grill," and a modern interpretation of Moliere's "Scapin." HSRT's "second stage" show is the comedy-drama, "Drawer Boy," while Holland's Park Theatre is home to HSRT's popular
cabaret offering, "Happy Holidaze!." The Children's Performance Troupe is presenting Jon Scieszka's "The True Stories of the Three Pigs and The Frog Prince (cont'd)" and Dennis Foon's "The Short Tree and the Bird Who Could Not Sing."
