Gallery Featuring Exhibition of
Painting and Poetry Opens on Feb. 19

HOLLAND -- For its second offering of the spring semester, the gallery of the De Pree Art Center at Hope College is presenting an interdisciplinary exhibition titled "Patterns: Works by Katherine Kadish and Jackie Bartley."

Kadish, from Yellow Springs, Ohio, and Bartley, from Hope College's department of English, address in painting and poetry respectively similar subject matter-- sewing--in the cultural context of the 1950s and '60s in America.

The exhibition opened on Monday, Feb. 19, and runs through March 23, opening in conjunction with Women's Week at Hope College. A reception for the artists will be held on Friday, Feb. 23, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In addition, Katherine Kadish will give a gallery talk on Friday, Feb. 23, at 1:30 p.m. On Thursday, March 1, at 7 p.m., Jackie Bartley will offer a poetry reading in the gallery.

The public is invited to all of the events. Admission is free.

The De Pree Art Center is located on Columbia Avenue at 12th Street. The gallery's regular hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Hours may be reduced during the college's March 16-25 spring break. The gallery is handicapped accessible. Additional information may be obtained by calling (616) 395-7500.
