HOLLAND -- Acclaimed New York dance duo Art Bridgman/Myrna Packer will appear at Hope College through the Great Performance Series on Monday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m. in the DeWitt Center main theatre.

Known for their charged physicality, sensuality, humor and edge, they will collaborate live with Grammy- winning percussionist Glen Velez in "Carried Away," an original work exploring the desire to be literally and figuratively "carried away." The program also includes the 1998 piece "Kata," inspired by martial arts movement, in which they are joined onstage by their 10-year-old son, Davy. The evening will also feature a solo piece by Velez, considered one of the leading percussionists in the world.

Choreographers as well as performers, Bridgman and Packer have received six National Endowment for the Arts Choreography Fellowships, a New York Foundation for the Arts Choreography Fellowship, and numerous other awards. Their work has been produced in New York City by Dance Theater Workshop, P.S. 122, Danspace Project at St. Mark's Church, Lincoln Center's Serious Fun! Festival, and Central Park's Summer Stage. As a duet company, they have toured throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia performing in festivals, art centers, and universities. Of Bridgman/Packer, the "Washington Post" has said, "Their dancing is at once suave, powerful, controlled, loose, and incisive."

Tickets for the performance will be available to Great Performance Series season coupon holders on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 14-15, in the theatre lobby ticket office in the DeWitt Center. Tickets for the general public will be available beginning Monday, Sept. 18.

Tickets are $12.50 for adult admission, $10.50 for senior citizens and $6.50 for students. Season subscriptions for this season's seven events are also available at $50 for adults, $42.50 for senior citizens, $22 for Hope students and $100 for families.
