Employees Recognized for Service to College

Hope College staff members were recognized for service during the college's 20th annual service award celebration, held in conjunction with a luncheon at the college's Haworth Inn and Conference Center on Thursday, June 29.

Four members who retired during the current school year were Robert DeYoung, college advancement; Beverly Kindig, biology; Beverly Larsen, kinesiology and June Weener, registrar's office.

Martin Strang, a member of the physical plant staff, was recognized for 30 years of service, while Judith Brake (switchboard) and Jacob Nyenhuis (college provost) were honored for 25 years service.

Recognized for 20 years of service were Gordon Borg (physical plant), Claudina Figueroa (physical plant), Barbara Helmus (health clinic), Christine Nelson (library), Janet Ramsey (library), Jonathan Rink (physical plant), and Cheryl Shea (CIT).

Fifteen-year honorees were Julie Barney (bookstore), Helen Einberger (library), Mary Essenburg (business office), Robert Garrison (physical plant), Lori Hertel (biology), Kevin Kraay (business office), Connie Ramirez (financial aid), Bonnie Rietman (physical plant), Johanna Sankey (physical plant), and Kendra Williams (financial aid).

Honored for 10 years service were Kathleen Arnold (physical plant), Patricia Carlson (library), Richard Frost (student development), John Gant (transportation), John Groenewoud (physical plant), Bernabe Guerrero (CASA), Sally Hoekstra (bookstore), Allen Keuning (transportation), Khamprasong Lotkhamnga (physical plant), Greg Maybury (CIT), Kate Maybury (CIT), Barbara Muller (admissions), Patricia O'Brien (library), Clementina Rios (physical plant), Pamela Valkema (religion), Yolanda Vega (Upward Bound), and Jan Zessin (library).

Marking five years of service were Rose Beukema (physical plant), Susan Carlson (tennis center), Anne de Velder (summer theatre), Patricia Gosselar (tennis center), Debra Hardy (physical plant), Gladys Jungling (tennis center), Sadie Jungling (tennis center), John Kistler (physical plant), Lisa Knapp (student development), Linda Koetje (counseling center), Glendene Lahr (public safety), Sheryl Lunn (registrar's office), Todd Lynema (public safety), Michael McCluskey (physical plant), Dolores Nasrallah (chaplain's office), Karen Page (tennis center), Gerald Rademaker (physical plant), Carol Ray (health clinic), Karl Ruf (transportation), Steve Scholl (public safety), James Scholten (public safety), Cheryl Smith (health clinic), Darnisha Taylor (chaplain's office), Dwayne "Tiger" Tuesink (tennis center) and Randall Vereeke (physical plant).
