Hope Appoints and Re-appoints Trustees
          HOLLAND -- There have been two appointments and
  two reappointments to the Hope College Board of Trustees.
          Newly chosen to serve four-year terms on the board
  are Dr. Douglas A. Edema of Grand Rapids and William H.
  Waldorf of Brookville, N.Y.  Those reappointed to four-year
  terms are Joel Bouwens of Zeeland and the Rev. Dr. Louis
  Lotz of Sioux City, Iowa.
          Edema is the president and chief executive officer
  of Advantage Health.  Before the formation of Advantage
  Health, he was president and chief executive officer of
  FamilyCare PC.
          He previously taught as an associate professor at
  Michigan State University in the department of family
  practice, and was also medical director for Care Choices
  Health Plan.  He was secretary-treasurer of the Kent County
  Medical Society in the early 1990s, and in 1994 was elected
  the society's president.
          Edema graduated from Hope in 1973 with majors in
  biology and chemistry.  As a student he participated in the
  Beta Beta Beta and Alpha Epsilon Delta sciences-oriented
  societies, was active in the Navigators campus ministry, was
  a member of the Arcadian Fraternity, and lettered in
  football and basketball.
          He holds his M.D. from the College of Human
  Medicine at Michigan State University, and an MPA from
  Western Michigan University.
          Edema is a member of Hope Reformed Church in Grand
  Rapids, where he has served as deacon, taught Sunday School
  and served as a guide in the Pioneer Club.
          His wife Sue, who is also a 1973 Hope graduate and
  is a former president of the Hope College Alumni
  Association, is coordinator of the school-to-work program at
  Kenowa Hills High School.  They have served the college in a
  variety of ways, including as regional co-chairs for the
  college's "Hope in the Future" fund-raising campaign, as
  class representatives and as volunteer callers when Hope's
  Annual Fund phonathon operated regionally.
          The Edemas have two children:  Rebecca, who is a
  Hope junior, and Todd, who is a junior at Grand Rapids
  Christian High School.
          Waldorf is chairman and chief executive officer of
  Landmark Distribution Group Inc. of Jericho, N.Y., a
  warehousing and distribution company.
          He is a member of Brookville Reformed Church in
  Brookville, N.Y., where he has been active on the consistory
  and has served as financial secretary for many years.  He is
  treasurer and a member of the Board of Trustees at The
  Warwick Center in Warwick, N.Y.  He has served on many
  committees at the national level for the Reformed Church in
  America.  He also serves on the Board of Trustees of The
  Interchurch Center in New York City.
          Waldorf is a director of Griffon Corporation
  (NYSE) and trustee of Kayne Anderson Mutual Funds.  He
  enjoys music and belongs to The University Glee Club of New
  York City, where he serves as treasurer.
          He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical
  engineering from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard
          Waldorf is a member of the Board of Trustees and
  the Executive Committee of the Board at Elmira College, from
  which his mother graduated.
          Waldorf married the former Arlene Arends Walters,
  who graduated from Hope in 1964, on March 22, 1997.  She
  serves as executive director of Reformed Church Women's
  Ministries, and previously was executive director of The
  Warwick Center.
          His children are Kimberly Mercer, who graduated
  from Hope in 1986, and her husband Brian of Great Falls,
  Va.; and William Waldorf and his wife Lisa (also a 1986 Hope
  graduate) of Alpharetta, Ga.  His stepchildren are Mark
  Walters, who is a 1991 Hope graduate, and his wife Diana of
  Conifer, Colo.; Jami Walters Dearstyne and husband Neil of
  Rensselaer, N.Y.; and Eric Walters of Aurora, Colo.  Mr. and
  Mrs. Waldorf have seven grandchildren.
