Eight Players Receive All-MIAA Baseball Honors

The MIAA champion Flying Dutchmen have placed eight players on the all-conference teams selected by the league's coaches.

Seven players achieved first team distinction. Junior pitcher Mark Simonson of Holland, Mich. is being honored for the second consecutive year.

Named for the first time are sophomore outfielder Kyle Blackport of Grand Rapids, Mich., senior pitcher Nate DeVisser of Mattawan, Mich., sophomore third baseman Casey Glass of Hudsonville, Mich., junior second baseman Nick Grinzinger of Mount Pleasant, Mich., sophomore designated hitter B.J. Maas of Jenison, Mich., and sophomore outfielder Mike VanBeek of Hudsonville, Mich.

Voted to the second All-MIAA team was junior shortstop Sean Bateman of Saline, Mich.

Receiving coaches' honorable mention were senior first baseman Ed Gall of Saline, Mich., senior outfielder Scott Houser of Portage, Mich. and junior pitcher Kevin Kittle of North Adams, Mich.
