Two members of Hope's MIAA champion women's soccer team have been named to the Division III Great Lakes Region first team.
Honored were junior midfielder Dawn Gillam of Portage, Mich. (Portage Northern HS) and freshman goalkeeper Holly Nestle of Mason, Mich. (Mason HS).
It is the first time that Hope has placed two players on the All-Region first team.
Hope enjoyed its most successful season in school history winning the MIAA championship for the first time in school history and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. The team posted a 16-4-2 record.
Gillam, a co-captain of the team and an MIAA first team honoree for the second consecutive year, led the team in scoring with 14 goals and 11 assists.
Nestle anchored a Hope defense that posted 15 shutouts and allowed just 11 goals over 22 games.
