Four Soccer Players Achieve All-Region Status

     HOLLAND -- Four Hope College soccer players have received all-region recognition from the National Soccer Coaches Association.
     Named to the men's second all-region team is junior goalkeeper Darren Toohey of Canberra, Australia (Mason, Mich. HS) while receiving third team honors is junior back Andrew Dressler of Portage (Portage Northern HS).
     Receiving second all-region team recognition in women's soccer is junior Tina Gill of Kalamazoo (Kalamazoo Central HS) while a third team honoree is junior Gretchen Schoon of Holland (West Ottawa HS).
     The all-region teams are sponsored by UMBRO.  The men's Great Lakes region consists of NCAA Division III teams in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio while the women's team consists of players from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
     Dressler and Schoon achieved All-MIAA first team status this fall while Toohey and Gill were second team honorees.
     The Flying Dutchmen finished second in the men's MIAA standings, posted an overall 15-5-1 record and qualified for the NCAA Division III tournament.  The Flying Dutch were third in the women's MIAA standings and had a 13-6-0 overall mark.
