Sports Medicine Lecture Series
Plans Five Addresses for 1999-2000

          HOLLAND -- The Distinguished Lecture Series in
  Sports Medicine will present five addresses during the 1999-
  2000 school year.
          The series, which will feature a variety of
  topics, is designed for health care professionals with an
  interest in physically active patients, and is intended for
  students, educators and clinicians alike.  It is co-
  sponsored by Holland Community Hospital, GNA Rehabilitation
  Professionals and the college.
          The series will open on Wednesday, Sept. 22, with
  "Cryotherapy:  A new look at an old modality" by Dr. Ken
  Knight of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.  On
  Tuesday, Oct. 12, Dr. Julie Fritz of the University of
  Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania will present "A research-based
  approach to the treatment of low back pain."
          Dr. Chris Ingersoll of Indiana State University in
  Terre Haute will present "The puzzle of patello-femoral
  pain" on Thursday, Jan. 20.  On Thursday, Feb. 17, Dr. Diane
  Bjornstal of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis will
  present "The psychological impact of athletic injury."
          The series will conclude for the season on
  Tuesday, April 4, with "Sports nutrition:  Fact and fiction"
  by Dr. Robert Murray of the Gatorade Sports Science
  Institute in Barrington, Ill.
          Each lecture will be presented at 7 p.m. in the
  Maas Center at Hope College.  Admission is free.
