Hope College has been chosen to host the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional cross country meet for men and women on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010.
The meet, which is expected to attract nearly 500 runners and an estimated 2,000 spectators, will be run at the West Ottawa golf club north of Holland, according to athletic director Tim Schoonveld who will serve as meet manager.
The men will compete over an 8K course while the women's race will be a 6K.
Last year the meet attracted runners from 36 Division III institutions in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. Calvin College of the MIAA is the defending men's and women's regional champion. In 2009 Hope finished sixth in the women's regional and 10th in the men's meet.
The runners will be seeking to qualify for the NCAA championships to be held later in November.
Hope College was host to the NCAA national cross country championships in 1987. Hope hosted NCAA regional meets in 1980 and 1986.
