 Hope junior John Pelton lost his first round match in the singles tournament of the NCAA Division III championships in Lewiston, Me.

He was defeated in three sets by Spencer Feldman of Trinity, Conn., 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

Pelton was the first Hope men's tennis player invited to the national tournament in 26 years. He ends with a 22-4 season record.
