A SELF-CRITQUE OF HOPE'S ASSESSMENT PROGRAM

As part of Hope's site visit from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association (NCA) in September 2003, the campus Assessment Committee spent much of this academic year evaluating our assessment program. We conducted this review based on a model of effective institutional assessment proposed by Cecilia Lspez of the HLC. The purpose of this process, according to the Commission, is two-fold: 1) to assist institutions in understanding and strengthening their programs for assessing student learning, and 2) to provide site visitors with useful information about the institution's assessment program.
