In a previous post, we mentioned that new computers at Hope would not have ZIP drives or floppy drives. This includes lab and classroom locations receiving upgrades this summer. Here's the list of places where ZIP drive and floppy drives will NOT be available:
- Van Zoeren 152 (29 computer classroom)
- Van Zoeren 142 (14 computer lab)
- Martha Miller 240 (21 computer classroom)
- All Van Zoeren classrooms and carts (including B30, 135, 151, 240, 247, 297, 298, 299)
- All Vander Werf classrooms (including 102, 104, 237, 238)
- All Martha Miller classrooms
Instead of using a ZIP or floppy disk, we're recommending that users consider USB flash drives, available at the Bookstore. These can be used in any lab or classroom computer on campus, as well as in any other computer running Windows XP. They're faster and more convenient than a disk, and you don't need to worry about whether or not your computer at home or somewhere else has a ZIP drive. CD-ROM drives are still being installed in all computers.
