Did you know?

Did you know that the average number of emails received daily by a Hope College email account is 16? 31.4% of email accounts receiving emails receive 5 or fewer per day. And 10.3% receive only 1 or 2 messages/day!

We were pretty surprised by those numbers, as well. But the more we examined the data, the more we found that there is a very small segment of the campus population that is receiving the vast majority of the email. Here's a graph illustrating this fact.

We're looking forward to examining data after the new anti-spam system is implemented next week Tuesday.

Our "blog" has changed...

We've been cleaning house a little bit on our blog during the past week. You'll find a new "Virus Alert" link in the upper right corner. That's where you can click for the latest virus information, including the Mytob virus that has been problematic during the past couple of days.

Several of our other favorite posts are now available in the left hand navigation under "Blog Highlights".

Congratulations to Teri Schamper!

Teri Schamper was the winner of our M&M contest! During our Open House on Friday, 9/23, we had a bowl of M&Ms -- each M&M in the bowl represented a computer that Hope College owned.

Teri guessed that there were 1,600 M&Ms in the bowl/computer that Hope College owned. She was close! Hope College currently owns 1,564 computers!

Stop by Student Development to congratulate Teri on her great guessing! (And ask if she's willing to share some of those M&Ms!)
