CIT is pleased to announce that we will be converting our current Webmail email system to "1HOPE", powered by
Google Apps for Education.
Soon you will have access to a
1HOPE email account with 2GB of storage (~80 times more) that uses Google's award winning Gmail interface. Google's other online applications such as
Calendar,
Talk and
Documents & Spreadsheets will also be available.
Over the past 2 months, approximately 150 faculty, staff and students have been evaluating and testing the new 1HOPE system. CIT will be transitioning all students, faculty and staff accounts to 1HOPE through the early half of the summer.
Will my email address change? No, email addresses at Hope College (@hope.edu) will stay the same.
Can I keep my messages/address books? Yes, you can migrate your saved messages from Webmail to 1HOPE.
What about SPAM? Gmail uses more aggressive spam filtering than Webmail and often prevents spam messages from even entering your inbox.
I don't use Webmail -- I use Eudora/Outlook/Thunderbird/etc. -- what will I do? Email clients (such as these) are still supported with the 1HOPE system.
