GRE

The GRE (General Records Examination) is required for entrance into most graduate programs. Some programs require the GRE General Test and others require a subject test. With the increasing number of qualified applicants with high GPAs, scoring well on the GRE is critical for acceptance into a competitive program. A high GRE score also opens the door to fellowships and scholarships at many graduate schools.

Juniors and Seniors planning to take the GRE should attend the

GRE Information Session
Tuesday, September 25, 2007
4:00-5:00
p.m., Schaap (SCICTR) 1000

Dr. Chuck Behensky, Assistant Professor of Psychology, will be reviewing test taking techniques and offering helpful hints on preparing for the GRE.

GRE General Test Practice Exams
In addition to attending the information session, plan on taking a practice GRE General Test. GRE POWERPREP software program is available on campus computers (the software can be found by going to Microsoft "Start", then "Academic" files, then "Career" files). It includes two practice exams as well as tutorials and practice questions. You will need at least three hours to take the full practice exam.

Registering for the GRE Exam
The GRE General Test is no longer a paper-based test. It is a computer based test offered throughout the year at hundreds of test sites. To register, call the test center of your choice. The testing center closest to campus is Prometric Testing in Grand Rapids, (616) 957-0368.

The Grand Rapids Prometric Test Center phone number is (616) 957-0368. Register early to get your preferred test date. Students desiring a fall 2008 test date in Grand Rapids should call as soon as possible, as space is limited.
