My internship has done a lot to prepare me for my graduate
studies, as well as the working world. I now have a more clear view
of what specific areas within business I would like to study further
and pursue as a career path. Dustin Ruch, ‘07, Herman

"Before her internship, Sarah admits she didn’t know
much about publishing but “liked the idea.” After her
experience at Zondervan, Sarah is grateful for all she learned about
the business
and process of publishing. She adds, “It gave me the opportunity
to grow and learn in a hands-on fashion.”

“Her position as the corporate sports coordinator involves
planning and organizing a sports event each month for various companies’ employees.
So far she has arranged a golf outing for around 200 people, volleyball
and flag football events and is preparing for an upcoming 3 on 3
basketball tournament. All events raise money for the Strong Kids
Association, for which she was in charge of collecting sponsorship.”

“A senior, Walsh majored in Chemical Engineering
and after her internship at the Cook Nuclear Power Plant, she explains
that she’s not sure yet where she wants to be after graduation,
but this is a possibility. For Emily, a job like this could be ideal
because a power plant like Cook would pay for graduate school, which
is something she wants to pursue."

“Along with job shadowing various producers,
Erika also had the opportunity to write stories. Near the end of
her internship, Erika was producing and editing the station’s

“My internship showed me what it was like to work in a ‘real
job’. I met people who are where I want to be in the future.
Meeting them was a key part of my internship experience.”

“I did my share of shredding papers, but I also prepared an
important briefing, presenting the 2006 Devil Ray’s projected
season. In doing so, I worked with other company departments as well
as with other baseball teams. I attended games for free, and even
watched them as I worked!”
