Networking and the
Career Resource Network of Hope Alumni

Wondering how the networking process works?

Check out the networking handout for tips.

The Office of Career Services offers several opportunities for students to connect with professionals in their fields of interest:
  1. Make an appointment to be personally matched to alumni and other professionals for a one-on-one conversation
Through the Career Resource Network of Hope alumni, you can begin to gather information about career fields and opportunities from Hope College graduates.

  2. Job Shadowing
In some career fields, such as health professions, job shadow contact hours are the standard way to gain experience listed on a resume or graduate/professional school application. Make an appointment to get connected with professionals in your field who may be able to host you for a job shadow appointment, and hear about other job shadow resources on campus.

  3. Networking Events
Watch for details on upcoming networking events including the following types of opportunities:
    • Monthly career panels featuring alumni in various fields
    • Chicago, Grand Rapids, and D.C. events at downtown hotspots in each city
    • Networking luncheons with the Alumni Board and Parents’ Council
    • Dessert reception with law professionals
    • Etiquette dinner with area professionals
    • Reception with area young professionals who understand today’s job search process
    • And more!
