Internship Programs

A recent survey by NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) revealed that 79% of employers currently offer internships and the average employer hires approximately 1/3 of their interns for full-time positions upon graduation.

Your organization, like many across the nation, is ready to realize the benefits of an internship program, including:

  • Assistance with special projects
  • Access to new ideas and resources
  • Opportunities to train potential employees
  • Evaluation and screening of potential new hires before a permanent hire
  • Observation of personnel within your organization in a supervisory role

The Internship Process at Hope

Employers:
  • Identify potential internship opportunities within the organization
  • Post the internship with Hope College via the online form
  • Interview and select applicants of interest
  • Negotiate or discuss expectations and any compensation issues with selected candidates
  • Contact the Office of Career Services with questions about the process or for suggestions and success tips for selecting and supervising an intern
Students:
  • Students view postings online, meet with the Office of Career Services, or meet with a faculty member to pursue internship opportunities for experience, academic credit, or financial compensation
  • The Office of Career Services maintains internship posting lists and assists students with the application and selection process, including resume and interview preparation
  • Students seeking academic credit for an internship arrange the credit process with a faculty member
