The mission of Dance Marathon is to raise funds and awareness for the families treated at DeVos Children’s Hospital while creating a legacy of community involvement and encouraging a lifestyle of philanthropy. This student-run organization will provide the Hope College community with the opportunity to develop leadership and event planning skills. Together with Children’s Miracle Network, Dance Marathon is striving to raise funds, build hope, and provide inspiration for children and families in West Michigan.
The money raised does not benefit specific families. Our Miracle Families are just families who have been treated at DeVos Children's Hospital in the past. Instead, the money raised helps fund programs through Children's Miracle Network at DeVos. These programs benefit the whole extended community. What Dance Marathon is... Dance Marathon is a student-run organization that works year-round to raise money for DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It culminates in a 24-hour Marathon where students stay awake and on their feet for the whole event. The time is filled with inflatable games, competitions, dance performances, bands, games, a lip sync, entertainers and much more. The organization also provides an opportunity for students, faculty, staff and community to meet families who have received treatment at DeVos Children's Hospital, and to be inspired by their stories. Dance Marathon is entirely student-run, and depends on the involvement of hundreds of students. |
