Non-Traditional Students

What is a nontraditional student?

Hope College not only has students of traditional college age (18-22) but also many students who do not fit into this specific category. Here are some characteristics of nontraditional students:
Age 23 or older
Married and living off campus
part time students
Students coming back to college to finish their education.
Students beginning their college educations after working for a number of years.
May have families and/or current job responsibilities

Who to contact with questions and concerns

Louise Shumaker, Program Director of Nontraditional Students works with nontraditional students and their concerns. Her office is in the Student Development office in the DeWitt Center and can be contacted at x7800.
