About Us

Founded in 1992, I.VE League was named in honor of Isla Van Eenenaam, former Dean of Women at Hope College as well as a house mother for Voorhees Hall in 1960. She is also a 1924 graduate of the college.

I. VE League is a student organization that helps surround students with a positive environment, so that they can discuss leadership issues relevant to women. Membership is open to anyone. We conduct many community service projects with groups organizations like Girls on the Run, Girls on Trek, Relay for Life, Dance Marathon, Women in Transition, and events with Evergreen Common, the Warm Friend, Freedom Village and the Rescue mission.

I.VE League is continuing to grow as an organization. The 2001-2002 academic year marked our first year as an official student organization. As an official student organization we became involved with such charity groups as the Angel Tree project and helped to co-sponsor the Professional Women's Networking Reception.

The 2002-2003 school year saw us grow even more. We participated in new activities such as the national Make-a Difference day; a day where millions of Americans come together to volunteer in projects around the community. We started off our participation in Make-a-Difference Day by doing arts and crafts with the residents of Resthaven Warm Friend on 8th Street. We also did a lot of work with the Center for Women in Transition (CWIT), such as baking cookies for the children at CWIT and helping out with Girls on the Run. In conjunction with CWIT and Campus Assault, Awareness, Response, and Education we helped raise awareness about abuse of women.
