|hope college > student life > yoga club|
We have been an active club on campus since January 2008. We offer a free yoga class once a week that is open for anyone to come to. We are passionate about creating a community for anyone interested in yoga, mind-body activities, meditation, and reducing stress. But most importantly, yoga club is about meeting new people, forming relationships, and celebrating life.
At our weekly meeting/yoga class we will either have someone to lead the class or we will watch a dvd to do yoga with. The class is usually 1 hour. It is recommended that you bring a yoga mat or a towel to do your practice on, and wear comfortable clothing that you can move in. Our classes usually include some seated meditation, focus on the breath, yoga poses that will get you warmed-up and your heart moving, and other poses that emphasize strength, balance and flexibility. We also end the class with relaxation so you can relax your body and mind. We want everyone to feel very comfortable and at ease, so come no matter what your abilities are and practice at your own pace.
In the past we have done yoga on the beach, and we have also done Yoga Rock-yoga done to rock music. We love to incorporate music into the classes so feel free to let us borrow your music or share any other ideas you may have for the club. We are always open to new ideas.
