Silent Praise

Silent Praise is a student-run organization that seeks to praise God through American Sign Language (ASL) and worship music. Members do not need to have any prior knowledge and experience with ASL or the Deaf culture. During our weekly practices, each new song is taught one sign at a time.

In the past we have done such songs as, "Let My Words Be Few," "Show Your Power," and "No One Like You". Since 1996, when Silent Praise was started, the group has grown from five members to upwards of thirty. Much of our energy is spent going to local churches in groups of three to five as special music and participating in our chapel services. A couple times a year we also prepare special pieces for events, such as the Gospel Choir's Spring Concert.

The expressiveness of ASL provides a dramatic and moving worship experience for both participant and spectator. For more information please contact the group at silentpraise@hope.edu
