One-time Volunteer Opportunities

LAUP (Latin Americans United for Progress) needs help asap
Needs people to help get their rooms ready in the mid-town center (Painting, sanding, washing, etc.) This is a non-profit organization that provides services for Latin American's in Holland (translations, help with documents, career training...) I know they would appreciate the help. This is an immediate need. Interested? Contact Joshua Wierenga at joshwierenga@gmail.com.

Neighborhood Holiday Celebration on Dec. 11th
The City of Holland is organizing a Neighborhood Holiday Celebration for families.
This event is sponsored by Chemical Bank. At this event we will have crafts, gifts, activities and refreshments. The purpose of this event is to invite families from the central city and provide an evening of Holiday Fun. This event will take place on Thursday, Dec. 11th, 2008 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Midtown Center, 96 W. 15th St. second floor auditorium (formerly the Community Education Bldg). Please see attached flyer.

We are looking for some jolly, energetic volunteers for the following:

Refreshments -serve punch and cookies

Registration and guest table-

Door prize registration

Children’s crafts activities

Santa’s helpers

Volunteers to set up

Volunteers to clean up

Evergreen Commons Holiday Formal Dinner-Dance - Sat. December 6
EC is in need of wait staff, food prep, dishwashing, and event setup for this awesome event! It is great for individuals and/or groups. Help needed would be late afternoon/evening (depending on area your volunteer). Please contact Mike Foshaug at foshaugm@evergreencommons.org if you are interested in helping!

Santa's Workshop on December 13th
Volunteers can visit with Santa, help kids decorate cookies, and teach/monitor children creating simple pre-planned holiday gifts and cards for loved ones. Volunteer time commitment is 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 13 at the Holland Civic Center. Enjoy seasonal refreshments and work on your own crafts to give during this time. Evergreen Commons Christmas Luncheons - December 17 & 18.

THE CHRISTMAS STORE @ the Rescue Mission - December 18
Volunteers are needed to help set up the store, which is the Mission’s answer to one stop shopping. Our client’s are given tickets to purchase appropriate gifts for their families. Time would be from 1:00-8:00 P.M. at The Rock on 7th and River.

  • December 19 – 20 - Volunteers are also needed to work at the Christmas Store helping client’s make appropriate choices, keeping tables neat and organized, restocking, wrapping gifts, etc. Times: 10:00-3:00 P.M. & 3:00-7:00 P.M. on December 19 & 10:00-Noon on December 20

Resthaven Resident Shopping Day – Mid December
(Date not finalized yet) Help our Care Center residents “shop” and pick out gifts for their loved ones in our “store” setup in the dining room and help wrap these gifts. Please contact Margo Horan at volunteers@resthaven.org or call 796-3604 if you are interested in helping!

Daddy/Daughter Dance on February 9th
Volunteers dress up, help get the party started, mingle, dance and serve refreshments. Dance the night away with a princess dress on? This is hardly volunteering!! Bring your girlfriends and dress pretty or get on a suit and work to impress all the ladies. Volunteer time commitment is 6p.m. to 8:30 p.m Monday, February 9 at the Holland Civic Center. RSVP to Adrienne at 355.1136 or a.schumacher@cityofholland.com. You won't go home hungry and get some festive pics taken by the professional photographer for your facebook account to show everyone how much fun you had with a tiara on!

Mom/Son Dance – March 16th
Volunteers dress up, help get the party started, mingle, dance and serve refreshments. Dance the night away wearing your hawaiian shirt and shorts? This is hardly volunteering! Bring your friends and dress in your best Hawaiian Tropic gear and compete in a hokey pokey contest!! Volunteer time commitment is 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday, March 16 at the Holland Civic Center.
