Renowned author Francine Prose has written over twenty
books, including National Book Award finalist Blue
Angel and the New York Times Bestseller, Reading
Like a Writer.
Her numerous stories, reviews and essays have appeared
in The Atlantic Monthly, Harper's, Best American Short
Stories, The New Yorker, The New York Times, The New York
Observer, Art News, The Yale Review, The New Republic,
and many other publications. Prose’s newest novel,
Goldengrove, follows thirteen-year-old Nico through one
haunted summer after the drowning death of her sister has
plunged her into grief. Francine Prose is the winner of
a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Fulbright fellowship, two NEA
grants, and a PEN translation prize. She has taught at
major universities throughout the United States for the
past twenty years and currently serves as president of
PEN American Center. She lives in New York City.
