David Choyo
Poetry

David Cho was born and raised in the Chicago area, along with his brother and extended family, the proud children of Korean immigrants in the early 1970’s. He holds a BA from the University of Illinois, MFA and MA from Purdue University, and a MAT and PhD from the University of Washington, and currently teaches in the English Department and American Ethnic Studies Program, his fourth year here at Hope College. Like his bi-cultural Korean American heritage, Chicago, Seattle, West-Central Indiana and Holland have been “homes” for him. A chapbook of poems, Song of Our Songs, was published in July 2010; his recent book of poems, Night Sessions, was published this summer and nominated for the 2011 National Book Awards; and a scholarly manuscript on 20th Century Korean American novels will be published in 2012.
