2012 Schedule Announced

2011 Season in Review
The Flying Dutchmen finished second in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and posted an overall 26-14 record.
Eight players were named to the coaches' MIAA all-conference teams. First team honorees included sophomore second baseman Ty Peterson
(Wheaton, ll./Warrenville South HS); junior shortstop Chris Mattson (Muskegon/Mona Shores HS); senior outfielder Drew Carmody
(Grandville/Grandville HS); and junior pitcher Adam Clements (Saline/Saline HS).
Named to the All-MIAA second team were junior catcher Jon Ponte (Novi/Dearborn Divine Child HS); senior first baseman Colton Bodrie (Fremont/Fremont
HS); sophomore outfielder T.J. Klein (Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS); and junior pitcher Danny Detmar (Chesteron, Ind./Chesterton
HS).
Three players received MIAA Player/Pitcher of the Week recognition -- sophomore outfielder T.J. Klein (Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS); and junior pitcher Danny Detmar (Chesteron, Ind./Chesterton HS) and junior pitcher Adam Clements (Saline/Saline HS).
Adam Clements was brilliant on the mound as he achieved both All-MIAA and All-Region honors behind a sterling 1.29 earned run average (ERA) and 7-3 record. He ranked ninth among all pitchers in NCAA Division III (367 teams) and was in the top 100 in victories (#76, 7-3), fewest hits allowed per nine innings (#62, 6.94), and fewest walks allowed per nine innings (#36, 1.29).
Freshman Eric Dawson (Grand Haven/Midland) was among the Division III national leaders in two categories -- toughest to strike out (#20, 4 Ks in 142 plate appearances) and most scrifice flies (#54, five).
Hope as a team ranked in the top 100 nationally (367 Division III teams) in several categories including -- #28 in earned run average (3.32), #48 in fewest walks allowed per nine innings (3.1), #80 in fielding percentage (.958), #91 in sacrifice flies (19), and #97 in fewest hits allowed per nine innings (9.55).
Sophomore Jordan Carrigan (Buchanan/Berrien Springs HS) became Hope's all-time career leader for saves. In two seasons he has 10 saves, three in 2011 in addition to the seven he recorded as a freshman. Hope starters had 19 complete game performances in 2011 reducing the number of save opportunities.
In 18 years under coach Stu Fritz the Flying Dutchmen have won 20-or-more games in a season 12 times while averaging 21 victories per campaign.
